Welcome to New Staff…

A warm welcome to our newest members of the Holy Angels teaching staff!

The Library Media Center will be coordinated by Kathy Matuszeski. Mrs. Matuszeski has taught English and served as a guidance counselor and gifted and talented coordinator. Most recently, she has begun pursuing certification in library science. In addition to coordinating library services, Mrs. Matuszeski hopes to develop a career awareness program as a research program for students and also provide opportunities for students to develop their media skills.

Hai Yu will be joining the World Languages Department as the Chinese teacher. He was born in China where he earned his bachelor and master degrees. Hai now lives in Menomonee Falls and also teaches at UW-Waukesha and the Milwaukee Modern Chinese School. During the summer, he is participating in the Wisconsin DPI Critical Language Fellows Program. Holy Angels School has been selected as one of eight sites in the state for participation in the program targeted to develop models for teaching Chinese.

Kara Peck will join the junior high staff and teach science in grades six through eight. Mrs. Peck earned her bachelor degree in biology with a chemistry minor. She also completed a master degree in secondary education broadfield science at UW-LaCrosse. Mrs. Peck lives in Milwaukee which in the halfway point for her and her husband (who teaches and coaches at Racine Park HS). She has taught students in the middle grades for six years.

As already publicized, Renee Altendorf will be teaming up with Mrs. Matthews to offer our K5 students an exciting year of learning and growing. Mrs. Altendorf will teach the half-day session. As “Renee Butschlick”, she completed her student teaching at Holy Angels and went on to teach pre-school students in Berlin (Wisconsin, not Germany!). Renee has also been involved with gymnastics and volleyball as a participant and coach.
