Volunteers Create Delightful Garden

On August 18th, a crew of volunteers transformed the 8th Avenue area of the school into a pleasant garden setting.  The project began with a bequest from Germaine Schneider which funded a long-desired improvement to the crumbling planter which was original to the construction of the school.

Parishioner Marv Wolf directed the effort with the help of the school maintenance staff and parent volunteers.  The site preparation included removal of the old planter, removal of some trees, and replacement of the cement patio.  Stone edgers were placed to define the garden area.

The plantings also included a corner area near the glass walkway.  Future plans call for more foliage along the 8th Avenue elevation of the school to present a more attractive setting in the neighborhood and to provide an outdoor instructional area for students.
