Sixth Graders Discover Hidden Tomb

For the last few weeks the sixth graders, in Social Studies class, have been studying Ancient Egypt. As an extension of all they learned, they constructed an Egyptian tomb. They divided into six groups with different jobs. Group 1: Constructed Egyptian boats out of papyrus reeds. Group 2: Created Egyptian wall drawings. Group 3: Built an Egyptian sarcophagus or coffin to hold a mummy. Group 4: Created an Egyptian mummy! Group 5: Made Egyptian pharaoh masks. Group 6: Created beaded Egyptian jeweled collars.

When finished they invited their little buddies, the third graders, on a guided tour of their tomb. Many parents stopped in as well. All in all, ancient Egypt turned out to be an exciting adventure into the past.
