Scholarship Recipient Announced

Raj Dutt of West Bend Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac recently presented the first of four Holy Angels Education Scholarships. The Walter and Darlene Zieja Family was selected by the West Bend auto dealer for the first scholarship presentation. Initially, 35 families submitted applications and from these, twenty were randomly chosen by the school for consideration by the donor. Ten of these applications were “simply outstanding”, according to Kevin Geldreich, who helped coordinate the program for the dealership, “and we had to just randomly pick the four recipients; they were all really good”.

Each scholarship is worth $500 with the family receiving $400 towards tuition. Another $100 is presented to a charitable cause selected by the scholarship recipient. The Zieja’s chose the Leukemia Society to receive the donation.

In their application, the Zieja’s indicated that “the teachers and staff are wonderful! They go an extra mile to help a child…they are not judgmental-everyone is treated fairly”. The Zieja’s are active as Playground Supervisors and are volunteers at the Valentine’s Party, Family Fun Night, and annual Famous Friday Fish Fry.

In presenting the scholarship, West Bend Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac owner Raj Dutt expressed his desire to support families in the West Bend community. Three more scholarships will be presented later during the school year. The Holy Angels School Board is grateful to Mr. Dutt for his support and interest in education. The second scholarship of the school year will be presented during Thanksgiving week.
