“Put Yourself in the Hands of God”

I will never forget you, upon the palms of my hands I have written your name.
(Isaiah 49:15-16)

Mine hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me… no one can take them out of my hand.
(John 10:27-28)

This year’s theme tries to capture the sense that if we place ourselves in God’s hands, if we trust in God’s great love for us, things can be really great!  We are assured that “I will never forget you, upon the palms of my hands I have written your name”.  Wow!!! Over the past several years, we have found how true it is that if we really trust God (and do our best), then God’s plan can unfold and God simply does not disappoint!  Our hope for the 2011-12 school year is that: 1) we all place ourselves in God’s loving hands, and 2) that we give our best effort in everything we do.

Last year, Holy Angels tried to focus on the fact that we are all part of God’s Team and that must mean that God has a very large palm to hold all of us.  But we really are all part of the same family of faith. It’s sometimes tough to live like a family that is gathered together in God’s hands in a society that focuses so much on individual rights, achievements, entitlements, without regard for the whole community. Everywhere you look, the “what’s in it for me?” attitude is right out front.  We are hopeful that each member of our school family will make a sincere effort to look outside of themselves and act in ways that support others who are also in the hand of God.
