Lent Begins with Service

Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the Lent at Holy Angels. For the students, the retreat day provided opportunities to focus on ways to become involved with prayer, almsgiving and fasting. During Lent, the primary students will be supporting the local Family Promise program. Intermediate students will be involved with “read to feed” in connection with the Heifer Project. The junior high students traveled to various venues and worked at school as part of a day of service on Ash Wednesday.

Throughout the forty days, students are asked to observe a Lenten Fast: Fast from Anger and Hatred; Fast from Judging Others; Fast from Discouragement; Fast from Complaining; Fast from Resentment and Bitterness; and Fast from Overspending. Each student received a wooden cube as a reminder of our Lenten Fast.
