Kids Under Construction

This year’s theme of “Building for the Future” was the basis for the Spring Performance as the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade classes presented a musical entitled Kids Under Construction.

The play took two characters (played in turn by a group of students from each grade) on a journey of self-discovery. They went from developing an appreciation for life itself with numbers like It’s a Miracle, Marvelous Machine, and Rhythm of the Livin’, to understanding that they needed to develop a response to the life they have been given in songs such as Parable of the Talents, and Ya Gotta Have a Plan, Man. In the end, they come to the conclusion that I am a Promise and also a Kid Under Construction.

One of our featured performers in the play was the fifth graders “adopted” grandfather, Fred Bury. He played a grandfather – one of the older “kids under construction”.

Kids Under Construction was underwritten through sponsorship in the memory of Erwin A. Ernst, who was a parish member for many years and a professional musician in the West Bend area for most of his life.
