HA Classic (Monday)

The first round of the 27th annual Holy Angels Classic Monday night saw the host school get knocked out of the hunt for a championship early as St. Frances Cabrini defeated Holy Angels-White and St. Mary’s handled Holy Angels-Blue in the eighth grade bracket.

Holy Angels-White and Cabrini battled to a 16-16 tie going into the locker rooms at the end of the second quarter. The remainder of the game was all Cabrini as the Knights dominated the boards and patiently broke the Royals full court press. Cabrini utilized patient ball movement in posting a 28-18 win. The Royals’ Eric Gremonprez led all scorers with 12 points.

Holy Angels-Blue and St. Mary’s were tied after the first quarter 9-9, but the visiting Crusaders built a 20-13 lead at the end of the second quarter which they maintained for the remainder of the game. St. Mary’s topped the Royals 32-26, led by Jon Krietzer’s 20 point barrage. Jordan Petrin paced Holy Angels with 15 points.
