HA Classic – 8th Grade Finals

The Holy Angels eighth grade team repeated as champions (they won the seventh grade title last year) in the 36th annual Holy Angels Basketball Classic.  The championship final saw Badger-Red’s Tanzanna Roberts cut the host school’s lead to 16-15 with a three-point play midway through the second period. The Royals responded with a 7-2 rally to take a 23-17 margin into the locker room.  Bolstered by a tenacious full court defense, Holy Angels opened the third period with a 13-2 run to take control of the game at 36-19.  The Royals held off the Badgers to claim the championship title in this year’s Classic, 51-42.

Joe Michels (21) and Ethan Wedemayer (18) led the Royals scoring while Roberts (14) and Jackson Jommen (11) paced the Badgers.

Good Shepherd took third place honors with a victory over Silverbrook, 50-31.  The game was tied midway through the second period when the Rams caught fire and tallied ten unanswered points to go up 27-17 at the half. Grant Biesterfeld and Zachary Zuleger each scored 14 points for Good Shepherd.

In other action, Nathan Craighead and Blake Fulano combined for 22 points to lift Badger-White to a 41-30 victory over St. Agnes to take home the fourth place trophy.  St. John’s jumped out to a 19-8 halftime margin over St. Kilian and hung on for a 36-30 victory.
