HA Classic – 7th Grade 2nd Round

In second round action, Holy Angels turned the ball over twice late in the second period resulting in baskets for Badger-Red, giving the visitors a 14-13 lead going into the locker room. The Royals used a 10-3 run, including a basket at the buzzer by Zack Jamieson off a Jack Wiedmeyer assist, to take a 27-21 lead into the final stanza.  Badger turned the table though and prevented the home team from scoring until Ryan Rinn hit a free throw with :41 remaining to tie the score at 28-28.

Free throws by Michael Seaman gave Badger a 30-28 lead until Rinn completed a three-point play to give the Royals a 31-30 margin with :12.6 on the clock.  Seaman was fouled and coolly sank a pair of free throws to seal a Badger win, 32-31.  Rinn paced the Royals with 17 points and Seaman also tallied 17 points, including 8×10 from the free throw line.

In other action, a 19-3 third period run helped Cabrini-White advance to the championship game by defeating Holy Trinity, 55-37.  Matthew Clark pumped in 33 points and Griffin Geib added 17 for the Knights. Danny Breuer led Holy Trinity with 16 points.  Good Shepherd overcame a 24-13 second period deficit to beat Silverbrook, 42-40, and advance to the championship game. Ethan Yerges tallied 22 point in the win. Blake Pudwell (18) and Mitchell Pfeil (14) led the Viking scoring. Cabrini-Green defeated Badger-White, 44-21.  Eleven players scored for Cabrini, led by Nathan Brendemihl’s 15 points.
