HA Basketball Classic (Thursday)

Teams and fans braved the cold to enjoy the hot action during the 31st annual HA Classic’s second round in the seventh grade bracket. In the opener, Holy Angels-Blue jumped out to an early 10-3 lead over Washington County Home School and stretched the lead to 19-10 at the half. The guest team used a 9-1 run in the third period, with six point from Parker Renard, to cut the lead to a point. The Royals’ Tyler Jazak tallied six points in the final stanza to propel the host team to a 28-25 victory.

St. Francis Borgia jumped out to a 10-2 lead over host Holy Angels-White in the evening’s finale. The Royals answered with a 9-2 run of their own in the second period. The teams exchanged baskets with Holy Angels clinging to a 17-16 margin going into the final period. Balanced scoring from five players down the stretch helped the host team post a 29-25 win. Jacob Krull led HA with 14 points, while Borgia’s Michael Glomski led all scorers with 16 points including three 3-pointers.
