HA Basketball Classic 2005 (Saturday/Sunday)

The seventh grade finals matched Holy Angels-White and St. Alphonsus, extending the tourney into an extra evening session because of a Saturday snow storm. The host team’s shooting was as cold as the Sunday evening weather during the second period allowing the Cougars to turn a 6-2 deficit into a 22-10 lead going into the locker room. The teams matched baskets in the second half, giving St. Alphonsus a 39-23 victory and the seventh grade title. John Radke paced the Cougars in the win with 10 points while Evan Goyette went 4×4 from the line. Zach Knoeck, Nathan Felix and Eric DuCharme each tallied six points for the Royals.

The seventh grade game for third place matched Holy Angels-Blue and St. Joseph. The guests used a 12-0 run at the end of the second period to open up a 16-4 lead against the host school. The Lancers maintained their lead en route to a 20-12 victory.

Holy Angels-Blue and St. Joseph also hooked up for 4th place in the eighth grade bracket. St. Joseph opened a 7-point lead at the end of the first period. The Royals kept within striking distance until a fourth period run by the Lancers clinched a 44-27 victory. Steven Klein tallied 20 points for the victors, while Peter Zwack paced the Royals with 10 points.

The morning games for 7th and 8th place were snowed-out and not rescheduled.
