FSEA Harnesses Wind Power

The Future Scientists and Engineers of America have been working on a variety of energy-theme projects this year. Recently, teams have been designing and creating windmills to perform work. Prototypes have been tested and participants were eager to determine the best design in terms of creativity and function. The team with the highest horsepower design was Justin Lloyd, Matt Melvin and Jonelle Ritger; second place went to Daniel VanCamp and Jacob Krull. The windmill that could lift a 3-ounce weight the fastest was built by Brandon Wojtasiak and Grayson Pomerich; the design by Sarah Laufer and Hailey Pomerich took second place. Other projects later this year will include a study of solar power and the ever-popular Junkbox Wars. FSEA is coordinated by Sara Krull, along with the help of several other parent volunteers.
