Buddies Explore Wade House

The annual Big & Little Buddies Field Trip took students to Greenbush and a chance to step back in time at the Wade House Historical Site.  While they were there, the buddies visited the Jung Carriage Museum and participated in a scavenger hunt which took them through the huge collection of horse drawn fire apparatus, sleds, carriages and work wagons which have been restored for display.

Students discovered the effort needed to saw wood in a mill and create iron objects in the blacksmith shop. Following a tour of the stagecoach inn, the buddies tried their hand a candle-making (a rather long process) and playing with turn-of-the-century toys.

The step back in time also included a horse-drawn wagon ride through the fall colors; and a drive through the kettle moraine.

Many thanks to the following bus sponsors who helped to make this event possible: Full-Bus…Tennies Hardware, John & Debbie Butschlick, Andrew & Michele Guminski, and Anonymous; Half-Bus…Mark & Sue Hammen, Chris & Carrie Guse, and Mike & Linda Sternig.
