Basketball Classic – 2010 (Saturday)

The 32nd annual Holy Angels Classic concluded with the championship game in the seventh grade division. Lumen Christi established themselves early, taking a 20-14 lead over Carbini-Green into the locker room. Balanced scoring by the Saints (including 16×25 from the free throw line) continued in the second half as Lumen Christi claimed the title with a 41-25 win.

In other seventh grade action, Cabrini-White took third place honors by defeating St. Agnes, 39-18. The Knights had seven players in the scoring column to help seal the victory. St. Kilian toppled Holy Angels, 31-13, for fourth place. David’s Star held off a torrid fourth period by St. Alphonsus for a 24-20 win.

In the eighth grade division, round robin play concluded with St. Kilian as the only undefeated team, earning the first place trophy. The Cougars held off Silverbrook-Blue, 37-30, and handled Holy Angels-Blue, 36-18, in their final games of the tourney.

Final Standings:

8th Grade – 1st place: St. Kilian (4-0); 2nd place: Silverbrook-White (3-1); 3rd place: Silverbrook-Blue (2-2); 4th place: Holy Angels-Blue (1-3); 5th place: Holy Angels-White (0-4).

7th Grade – 1st place: Lumen Christi; 2nd place: Cabrini-Green; 3rd place: Cabrini-White; 4th place: St. Kilian; 5th place: St. Agnes; 6th place: Holy Angels; 7th place: David’s Star; 8th place: St. Alphonsus.
