Basketball Classic – 2010 (Monday)

The tip-off of the 32nd edition of the Holy Angels Basketball Classic featured Holy Angels-Blue and Holy Angels-White in the 8th grade division. The White squad jumped out to a 8-6 lead at the end of the first period, but the Blue squad used a 12-4 second period run to take a six-point lead into the locker room. Another fourth period scoring run sealed the victory for HA-Blue, 36-25. Blue’s Max Sallinen and Robbie Albinger led all scorers with ten points each, while Dan VanCamp also tallied ten points for HA-White.

St. Kilian defeated Silverbrook-White in a low scoring affair, 25-15. Collin Klink lead the Cougars to victory with ten points.

HA-White and Silverbrook-Blue traded first quarter baskets and three-pointers for a 12-12 tie, but the visitors used a 9-0 run to take a commanding lead into the locker room. Six third quarter points by Michael Ulickey helped to cut the lead to 27-25 going into the final stanza. Silverbrook hit 6×8 from the free throw line in the closing minutes to escape with a 37-30 win. Ryan Reboltz paced Blue with 14 points while Jonah Maas added 13 points including five from the charity stripe. Ulickey led HA with ten points.
