Ash Wednesday Begins 40 Days

The annual Ash Wednesday Student Retreat is an opportunity for students and staff to re-focus on our journey of faith and to use the forty days of Lent as a time for prayer, repentance, almsgiving and renewal. The day began with the Ash Wednesday Mass and the Distribution of Ashes.

Grade levels planned activities throughout the morning to simply take time reflecting on our Lenten call. The classrooms in the grade 2-5 wing have decorated their doors as a constant visual reminder of the special season of Lent. Some of the intermediate class learned more about Eucharistic Adoration which has developed in the parish. The junior high saw groupings of 6th, 7th and 8th graders preparing meals as an outreach project for House of Peace.

During Lent, each homeroom is participating in the Pennies for Peace collection to provide educational opportunities in parts of the world in need of support.
