6th Grade Companions at Camp Gray

The sixth grade companions travelled to Camp Gray near Wisconsin Dells for an overnight field trip in the brisk fall weather.  The students participated in a Environmental Stewardship Program sponsored in part by the Madison Diocese.  Students learned about the interconnectedness of humans, plants, animals and natural resources as they journeyed through the varied wetlands, woodlands and prairies at the camp.  God’s creative awesomeness was evidant as the sixth garders learned much about the environment and our call to be good stewards of God’s creation.

There were also opportunities for fun with walks in the steam, archery, canoeing, games in the dorm, and campfire entertainment.  An evening prayer vesper service, a reflective prayer service and (especially) a solo hike provided students with a chance to simply be close to God.

Mealtime also served as a time for learning new prayers and the meaning of “ort”. The program ended with students signing a banner as they pledged to become better stewards of God’s many gifts.
